08:42:02 am, Categories: AI Season Seven Well it was a knock out afterall and as I predicted, it was David Cook left standing winning 56% of the final vote. If I do my math correctly he got somewhere between 53 and 54 million votes (which is more than George W Bush got in 2004). Hows that for some perspective on our American culture?
I won't take anything away from David Archuleta. He was a great contestant and had this been a six or eight week competition I think he would have won it. But over the course of time it was David Cook who was able to successfully show the various sides of himself that the longer season demands. It was the ability of David Cook to continue to do the unexpected that made all the difference in the world. It was also DC's ability to sing a larger variety of songs than DA was able to sing... and that was never more clear than the final two shows of the season.

a guy who was a bartender/struggling musician 5 months ago is now a music star. great story. i do think he'll put himself into the upper level of adol alum (kelly, carrie, daughtry, clay). i think david a will too. he's still got a heluva voice at a young age.
i think this seasom will produce a few genuine stars. most of the final 10 from seasons past have faded into mediocrity. the jury is still out on jordin sparks imo. but she's already had two top ten hits. i think bth davids will put out successful albums. i'm not convinced syeisha will be more than a success on broadway. brooke may find a niche audience for herself. i thought her duet with nash was pretty good.
i was a little disappointed wth the guests last night. it looked like old timers night for a while.
carrie underwood looked hot.
the mike myers thing was dumb
glad to see they minimized bringing back the audition idiots. only one.
i could tell jordin sparks was not in full voice. sounds like she's still recovering from that voice strain.
i can think of several of the final 24 who i didn't see there. don't remember their names though.
